9th Station - So Near Yet So Far

Scene: Near top of Calvary hill. Jesus is kneeling with His forehead touching the ground, His bad arm lying limp but His good arm as if about to push Himself up again. Simon is holding the cross while the soldiers are pushing Peter away. Mary, crowned with seven stars, is gripping John's elbow, but reaching out lovingly to Jesus.

You struggle on, still hampered by the injuries inflicted on You by the world. The end time draws close, the power of the Church is obstructed. Men are forced to stand alone with their convictions. Let us not overlook Your poor Mother, who can only stand there and watch, helpless to intervene. Perhaps we can offer her our support, meagre though it is; maybe our love can help to recharge the supply of her love which is drained from her by this cruel, uncaring world.
