6th Station - Compassion Cannot Be Measured

Scene: Further along the road.

Jesus and Simon are still sharing the load of the cross. Veronica has closed up to Jesus and is mopping His face with the towel. Mary, whose halo now depicts four stars, rests a hand gently on the arm of a soldier, preventing his intervention. John stands by Mary, Peter by Simon.

Things happen that we can't change. We don't always have the strength or ability to amend wrongs done. But there is always the possibility for us to ease the burden. Compassion is not expensive, yet has immeasureable value.
Remind us that, whatever the trial of our neighbour, like the Good Samaritan we should be prepared to comfort and succour. Let us show those motherly values which lie hidden deep in the souls of all of us and may your own blessed Mother protect us against the threats and scorn of the world around us, which does not wish to know You. Then, when we dare to step forward to help, shower us again with your own love, radiating out from your eternal glory.
