4th Station - A Son Honours His Mother

Scene: Same place; Soldiers have lifted cross onto its edge to free Jesus. Mary, whose halo now displays two stars, has, with John beside her, rushed forward to her Son.

Jesus is now risen to His knees and is holding and kissing the hands of His Blessed Mother. Peter and Simon of Cyrene, in the background, are having a heated discussion with the soldiers.

Your Blessed Mother was always close and always seeking a chance to be closer to You. In her perfect love she did not fear the wrath of the earthly powers which ran that sham of justice. Perhaps we too can try to stay close to You in times of trial.
At least, if we don't have the courage to come to Your help, may we at least stay close to our Blessed Mother, for we know that she will always draw us to You, whatever the trials or circumstances.
Or maybe You can give us the strength to confront our fellow men and advise them wisely when we know injustice is being done.
