3rd Station - Weighed Down With Guilt
Scene: Courtyard gateway, seen from the outside.
Jesus is prostrate on the floor, in the gateway, with the cross lying across His back and with His head turned toward the picture viewer.
Peter and John are depicted again, looking aghast. Now Mary can be seen, her hands across her mouth in shocked pose. Mary's halo has one star on its rim. Mary and Jesus have the same face, except that He is bearded and she is not.
Lord, You gaze at me - yes, I confess that I have put You in this position. The weight of my guilt presses You down and I repeatedly prevent You from carrying out Your heavenly mission.
But despite my foolishness, God gives You the protection needed to continue in Your task. Would that I too could be Your protector instead of Your assailant. Do not let me rest in a state of shock and horror. Stir me into action, that I may become an instrument for Your love to reach into the world.
Let us not overlook Your Mother. The one who is a mirror of You must also suffer like You. As You portray the way of love for Your priests, so she portrays the way of suffering for those who already have the ability to love.
