Scene:Inner courtyard with gateway to city visible in background. Pilate, seated in chair, is turning away from Jesus with a hand raised shunning Him whilst reaching out for the bowl to wash his hands. Pilate's wife is whispering into his ear.

Jesus, standing, is facing Pilate with His left hand pointing to His sacred heart, which is visible, and His right hand stretched towards Pilate in gesture of reconciliation.

Lord, we too act so often like Pilate. We feel deep inside that You are right but we still turn away and follow our own will, maybe even ignoring the advice of our friends. Even so, You continue to reach out to us offering comfort and mercy.
May we remain always aware of Your love which waits ever alert for our slightest change of heart and return to You.
